Constitutional Law History Series I: Turning Points of European Constitutionalism

The conference entitled “Turning Points of European Constitutionalism,” the first event organized within the Constitutional Law History Series by the Faculty of Law of the Turkish-German University, has been successfully held.

Conference Announcement: "Constitutional Law History Series I: Turning Points of European Constitutionalism"

The first event in the Constitutional Law History Series, entitled “Constitutional Law History Series I: Turning Points of European Constitutionalism”, which will take place on 11 February 2026 from 13:30 to 15:30, is the inaugural event in the series. It will begin with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Hamide Özden Özkaya-Ferendeci, after which Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Yıldız will take over as moderator. Assoc. Prof. Berke Özenç, Assist. Prof. Öğr. Üyesi Ömer E. Egeliği, and Assist. Prof. Üyesi Eyüp Kaan Demirkıran will participate as speakers, addressing key turning points in the historical development of European constitutionalism. The event is open to the public.

Overseas Publication by the Department of Civil Procedure, Enforcement and Insolvency Law

As part of their academic visit to Japan, the Head of the Department of Civil Procedure, Enforcement and Insolvency Law, Prof. Dr. H. Özden Özkaya-Ferendeci, together with the other faculty members of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Köroğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mikail Bora Kaplan, and research assistants Dr. Makbule Serra Korkut and Merve Güney — delivered a presentation at Rikkyo University in Tokyo on November 25, 2024. The Japanese translation of the presentation, titled “An Overview of Turkish Law”, was published in Volume 25, Issue 1 of the Komazawa Law Review.

Res. Assist. Burak Orhan Wins First Place in Essay Competition Held in Memory of Martyr Public Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz.

Res. Assist. Burak Orhan, who works in the Department of General Public Law at our Faculty of Law, has won first prize in the 6th Essay Competition in memory of Martyr Public Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz, themed ‘Crimes Against the Environment’, with his work entitled ‘The Right to the Environment as an Independent Fundamental Right’.

Second Training on Mobbing Held at the Faculty of Law as Part of Internal Training.

The second internal training planned by the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Law as part of internal audit activities addressed the topic of mobbing.

Two Countries with Different Approaches to Mandatory Pre-Litigation Settlement: Turkey and Germany

Within the scope of the BAP project carried out by the Department of Civil Procedure and Enforcement–Bankruptcy Law of the Faculty of Law at the Turkish-German University, a conference titled ‘Two Countries with Different Approaches to Mandatory Pre-Trial Settlement: Türkiye and Germany’ was held on Monday, 8 December 2025, between 10:00 and 13:00, in the Conference Hall of the School of Foreign Languages. At the conference, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Köroğlu, Research Assistant Merve Güney addressed the institution of Mandatory Mediation in Turkish Law, while Research Assistant Dr. Makbule Serra Korkut discussed the institution of Mandatory Pre-Trial Conciliation in Germany. In his closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Efe Dırenisa provided a comparative evaluation of German and Turkish law and shared the project outputs with the participants.

Foreign Publication by Our Faculty of Law Members

The article authored by Prof. Dr. H. Özden Özkaya-Ferendeci, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Efe Dırenisa, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Köroğlu, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mikail Bora Kaplan from the Faculty of Law of the Turkish-German University has been published in the Zeitschrift für Konfliktmanagement (ZKM), which is regarded as one of Germany’s reputable journals. The article, which examines the subject of mediation in Turkish law, analyzes the development of mediation legislation in Türkiye in comparison with German law. The journal in which the article was published is the first specialized periodical in the German-speaking region focusing on the field of dispute resolution. With its interdisciplinary approach, the journal stands out by aiming to convey fundamental issues and current developments concerning mediation and all other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
